'Oil Beetle Hat' Cabled Knit Hat Teen-Adult sizes
I really love knitting cabled hats. It’s all of the plush texture of a sweater with a smaller time (and yarn!) commitment. For the body of this hat, I began with a classic diamond cable motif and freshened it up with an inset stockinette diamond. For more cabled goodness, I created a totally reversible brim knit with cables on the inside and on the outside. It can be worn flat or folded to create an infinitely wearable hat for everyone in the family. It is perfect for that one special skein that you’ve been saving. The name comes from the iridescent colored insect: the oil beetle.
Cable charts also include written instructions.
Size: 18 (20.5, 23)”
My lovely model is 12 and wearing the 20.5” size.
Gauge: 31 sts x 30 rows in Brim Ribbing pattern = 4”

Needle: US 3/3.25mm DPNs or 1 long circular for magic loop method
Notions: Stitch markers, cable needle
