'Husked Chopped Mowed' Knit Shawl

US$8.00

I was so inspired by this yarn base. It bouncy and light but more than that, it is an homage to Sojourner Truth. In that spirit, the title is a line from her famous speech given at the Woman’s Rights Convention in Akron, Ohio on May 29, 1851. Interesting fact: The most recognized quote from this speech “Ain’t I a Woman” was actually never spoken by Ms. Truth but was instead added some 10 years later by a writer interpreting her speech.

For this design, I combined stockinette and reverse stockinette to keep thing interesting but not too hard to do while watching tv. The center has a nice, fat cable that runs from top to bottom and then a few extra cables are added in the last section. I wanted to add to the drape and openness by including eyelets and a narrow mesh section.

Details: This shawl is knit all in one piece. The main body of the shawl is stockinette or reverse stockinette with a double increase on the sides and increases flanking the cable at the center. Only one color is used at a time.

Size: 76” by 24”

Yarn:
(60% Superwash Merino, 40% Romney, 260yds/ 238m/3.5oz100g)
MC: 2 hanks
CC1: 1 hank

Needles: US 10/6 mm

This pattern is for PERSONAL USE ONLY. Thank you
