'Fleet Feet Socks' Knit Socks Adult sizes

US$6.00

Variegated sock yarn is my favorite to buy at shows. This color caught my attention immediately but then the big question: what would I make with it? Fleet Feet is a sock that is interesting to knit while also letting hand dyed yarn shine. There is an offset cable and slipped stitch motif that changes size and shape on the leg of the sock and runs all the way to the cuff. There is a nice size stockinette section for beautiful simplicity.

The name came about because the completed motif put me in the mind of the winged shoes depicted in drawings of Mercury (Hermes).

Details: The toe of the sock is begun with a small garter stitch section for visual interest. 1x1 cables that run the length of the socks are easily worked without a cable needle. The sock is knit as a tube then the heel is knit last mirroring the slipped stitch pattern. Be sure to read all of the instructions for each section prior to starting and keep an eye out for individual instructions for the left sock and the right sock.

Sizes: Women’s Narrow (Women’s, Women’s Wide/Men’s, Men’s Wide)

Circumference: 7.5 (8.5, 9.5, 10.5)”

As these socks are knit from the toe up it is very easy to adjust width and length.

Yarn: 1 skein fingering weight plied, wool blend. One hank should be suitable for an average pair of women’s sized socks. The sample is Women’s size 10 foot. For the wide or Men’s sizes a second hank will be needed or about 100 yds to do a contrasting heel, toe, and cuff.

Needle: size 1/2.5mm DPNs or 1 long circular. The row and stitch gauge matters for this sock as the instructions are written in rows.

This pattern is for PERSONAL USE ONLY. Thank you
