Awilix Shawl Laceweight or Worsted
I am fascinated by designs that are gender neutral. This shawl is specifically designed to be worn by any gender. Awilix was a Mayan deity of the moon and the night. Depending on which lore you read, Awilix was described as the goddess or a god. The beauty and mystery of the Awilix shawl is its versatility. By simply changing the yarn, the piece goes from flowy, delicate and feminine to utilitarian, rich, and masculine. The unique parallelogram shape paired with the blunt ends makes it infinitely wearable.
Details: Awilix is knit similar to a typical triangular shawl from tip to tip the difference being the location of the increases and decreases. The inset motif is accomplished using simple 1x1 cables. A cable needle is not necessary and instructions are provided for how to accomplish this. Be sure to read all of the instructions for each section prior to starting.
Size: One size; 3 in (tip), 16 in (center), 72 in long
Yarn and needle:
Laceweight version: 1 hank laceweight approx 700 yds; size 7/4.5mm needle
Worsted version: 2 hanks worsted approx 400 yds;
