In the Lab Coat
I love a pattern that has details to keep the knitting interesting. For this design, I also wanted to show off the gorgeous hand dyed yarn of Spincycle and Magpie. To do that I included several textures and color changes. This raglan, tunic length, open front cardigan includes simple cable panels, a sprinkle of eyelets, some classic garter trim, and POCKETS! What more could you ask for? Well, there’s more! The chunky yarn makes the knitting speedy and the finished piece more like a coat, hence the name. In particular, it looks like a classic lab to me. For ultimate wearability, the neckline is v shaped and leads to the overlapped flaps, the body has optional, gentle a-line shaping for more room in the hips and butt, and for the sleeves I created a new shape that I feel mirrors the comfy looseness of a sweatshirt.
